چکیده

In the present study, the effect of long-term salt stress (NaCl with 0, 0.1, 0.4 and 0.7 MPa)-temperature (25±2 oC and 35±2 oC) interaction on some antioxidant enzyme activities (ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase and peroxidase) in six soybean cultivars (Glycine max L. Merr.) was investigated. The leaves of twenty-three-day old plants were used for the analysis of enzyme activities. Salt stress significantly increased APX activities of Mitchell, Nazlıcan and Türksoy compared to control, and decreased in other three cultivars at 25 oC, whereas it caused differences in the APX activities depending on the salt treatment levels at 35 oC. Under both temperatures, GR activities in the cultivars were generally increased by salt treatment, except for 0.1 MPa. POD activities at 25 oC decreased in all cultivars, except for 0.7 MPa in CX-415 and Nazlıcan. However, 0.4 MPa increased the activity only in cv. Nazlıcan at 35 oC. Our results demonstrated that the studied cultivars exhibited discrepancies in their antioxidant enzyme activities in response to salt treatment and the interaction of salt-temperature intensified the obtained responses.

Ion content and its correlation with some physiological parameters in olive cultivars in response to salinity

ABSTRACT- Olive (Olea europaea L.) is one of the most valuable and widespread fruit trees in Iran. Salt stress-induced changes in membrane stability, photosynthesis and antioxidant enzyme activity were examined on four olive cultivars (Dakal, Shiraz, Zard and Amigdalifolia) by emphasizing the correlation between measured parameters and ion (K+, Na+) accumulation. Plants were subjected to four s...

Salt stress-induced changes in leaf antioxidant activity, proline and protein content in ‘Shah Anjir’ and ‘Anjir Sabz’ fig seedlings

A major portion of the Iranian fig (Ficus carica) industry is located in high-salinity regions, and salinity is an important limiting factor in the production of this fruit. The present study was conducted to investigate the changes of leaf antioxidant-enzyme activity, proline and total protein content in two fig cultivars with two leaf shapes: ‘Anjir Sabz’ with lobate and palmate leaves, and ‘...

physiological and Biochemical responses of different sesame (sesamum indicum) genotypes under salinity stress

Sesame seeds are a good source for food and health due to their protein and unsaturated fatty acids and secondary metabolites such as lignans. Soil and water salinity is one of the most important factors limiting the growth of this crop. By examining the physiological reactions related to salinity tolerance among different landraces and cultivars, tolerant and sensitive cultivars can be selecte...

Differential Changes of Proline Content and Activities of Antioxidant Enzymes Results in Varied Salt-Tolerance in Canola Genotypes

Saline soils and saline irrigation waters present potential hazards to canola production. Therefore, in this study in order to find indicators for salt tolerance, the changes of proline content and the activities of antioxidant enzymes were investigated in two canola genotypes (H308, H420) under various salt concentrations (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mM). Results showed that compared to the contr...

Secondary Metabolite Contents and Antioxidant Enzyme Activities of Cichorium intybus Hairy Roots in Response to Zinc

Hairy root systems are formed by transforming plant tissues with the “natural genetic engineer” Agrobacterium rhizogenes. In most plants such as Cichorium intybus L., hairy root cultures have proven to be an efficient system for secondary metabolites production. The effect of Zinc (ZnSO4), a heavy metal, was investigated at different concentrations (0, 1, 5 and 10 mM) on some secondary metaboli...
